The City of Gallatin is seeking a Utility Staff Engineer to support engineering and project management efforts within its Public Utilities/Water Department.

This is a full-time position involving planning, designing, analyzing, and managing utility infrastructure projects, including water, sewer, and natural gas systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing construction plans
  • Preparing technical reports
    Assisting with the Capital Improvement Plan
  • Supervising staff
  • Managing consultants
  • Responding to public inquiries.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and be certified as an Engineer Intern (EI) in Tennessee. A Professional Engineer (PE) license and utility-related certifications are preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of relevant experience, strong knowledge of utility engineering practices, regulatory compliance, and excellent communication and leadership skills. The role requires both office and occasional field work, with some physical demands and emergency response duties. The minimum hourly rate is $35.28.
