September 26, 2025 – A Sumner County jury has convicted 40-year-old Lindsey Danyelle Covington of aggravated assault, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct following a violent attack at a Gallatin wedding in November 2023.

Prosecutors said Covington, who was heavily intoxicated, harassed and threatened another guest before later assaulting him as he helped clean up the venue. Evidence showed she threw alcohol in his eyes and smashed a large beer glass against his face, causing severe injuries. The victim required 80 facial stitches, suffered significant blood loss, and was left with permanent scarring.

Gallatin Police Officer Derek Akin took Covington into custody at the scene.

Covington faces up to six years in prison for the aggravated assault conviction and 60 days in the Sumner County Jail for the misdemeanor charges. She will be sentenced November 25, 2025, by Judge Dee David Gay. Prosecutors noted that under Tennessee law, sentences for violent crimes like aggravated assault must be served without parole or early release.

District Attorney General Thomas Dean praised the victim’s courage, the Gallatin Police Department’s quick response, and Sumner County EMS for life-saving care and key trial testimony. He said his office will seek the maximum punishment allowed by law.

Covington’s bond was previously revoked, and she remains in the Sumner County Jail pending sentencing.
