The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has provided an update on the replacement of the East Fork and West Fork bridges on Nashville Pike.
The project has now been let for bids, and a contractor is expected to be officially awarded soon. Once awarded, the contractor will spend several weeks mobilizing and procuring materials before work begins.
Utility work is expected to begin in August. During this phase, crews will relocate the utility lines currently attached beneath the bridges. This work is the first step in preparing for the bridge replacements. As soon as TDOT provides a firm timeline, we’ll share that information with the community.
The utilities phase is expected to last approximately 18 months.
During this phase:
• Temporary lane closures will occur as needed.
• West Fork Bridge: The two-way center turn lane over the bridge will be closed.
• East Fork Bridge: The center gore area will be narrowed.
While drivers may notice some temporary lane adjustments during the utility phase, the more significant traffic changes associated with bridge construction will occur in later phases of the project.
