September 28, 2023 –
On September 21, 2023, the Hendersonville Police Department was contacted concerning several theft incidents involving two unknown females who distracted victims while stealing their wallets and phones.
In each incident, one of the two unknown females started a conversation with a victim concerning products in the store. The theft then occurred while the victim was distracted. The victims’ credit cards were immediately used to make numerous purchases before the cards were cancelled. Some of those purchases were found to have been made in Gallatin, TN where additional victims of similar incidents were identified.
Hendersonville Police is encouraging the public to be aware of these distraction techniques and to notify police if you encounter anyone acting suspiciously. A couple tips to help avoid being the victim of this type of crime include always keeping your purse or wallet in front of you in your line of sight and making sure that they are zipped or latched shut to keep others out.
Detectives are also requesting the public’s assistance with identifying the subjects involved. Surveillance photographs are attached to this release.
