What began as a routine Sunday afternoon patrol for the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office quickly turned into a pursuit after a traffic stop at Rock Bridge Market.
Deputies said the incident started with a brief conversation with a couple in a pickup truck before passenger Michael Mungle fled on foot and the driver, identified as Melissa Ferguson, drove away down Rock Bridge Road. Though the pursuit did not reach high speeds, the driver reportedly refused to stop for about a mile and a half before finally pulling over.
As Ferguson stopped, Mungle ran into nearby woods. Deputies gave chase, and after a short foot pursuit and a taser deployment, Mungle was taken into custody.
Additional charges are expected for both individuals as the investigation continues.
