Three Convicted Of First-Degree Murder In Sumner County Trial

A Sumner County courtroom has reached a verdict in a homicide case, bringing a major development after several days of testimony.

Following a four-day jury trial in Sumner County Criminal Court, Woodrow Sales, Dominic Smith, and Quentin Taylor were each convicted of first-degree felony murder in connection with a 2023 killing.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Tara Wyllie and Andrea Green, with the investigation led by a detective with the Hendersonville Police Department.

After the verdict, Judge Dee David Gay sentenced all three defendants to life in prison on the murder conviction. Additional sentencing on remaining charges is scheduled for May 29.

The District Attorney’s Office also recognized the work of victim witness coordinators and supporting staff who assisted throughout the case, as well as the jury and law enforcement involved. Officials say the outcome reflects their continued commitment to pursuing justice through a fair and impartial process.
