June 6, 2025 – This morning, deputies with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress at a home on Garrison Branch Road. The caller reported that an unknown man had entered the family’s residence and was rummaging through the kitchen cabinets.

The suspect was interrupted by a young child who encountered him in the kitchen. The child immediately ran to their bedroom for safety, prompting the suspect to flee out the front door. Thanks to the child’s quick thinking and detailed description, deputies and detectives were able to identify a suspect within the hour.

The suspect was located and brought in for questioning, where he ultimately confessed to the burglary. During the investigation, deputies also discovered that the suspect was in possession of stolen cell phones tied to a separate incident.

“We’re incredibly proud of this young man’s bravery,” said Chief Deputy Tommy Greer. “His actions helped lead to a quick resolution, and helped our deputies and detectives take a dangerous individual off the streets.”
