The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about ongoing phone scams where callers spoof the agency’s number and demand payment for fake warrants, missed jury duty, or bonds—often asking for cryptocurrency or gift cards.
Authorities stress that law enforcement will never call to request payment over the phone.
If you receive such a call, hang up immediately—even if the number appears to be from the sheriff’s office. When in doubt, contact the department directly using a verified phone number.
Officials urge the public to share this warning to help prevent others from becoming victims.
