A student at Knox Doss Middle School at Drakes Creek has died following a severe ATV accident.
The accident left 13-year-old Bentlee Whitley with life-threatening injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. She had been receiving critical care in a Memphis hospital and was taken off life support on November 29th.
School officials said her kindness and spirit will continue to make a difference in the world. In her final act of generosity, Bentlee was an organ donor, giving the gift of life to four others.
To honor Bentlee, the school will hold a “Blue Out” this Thursday during the school day and at the home basketball game that evening, recognizing her favorite color. The KDDC dance team, of which she was a former member, will also pay tribute to her.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, December 7th, at Long Hollow Church.
