The Sumner County EMS is mourning the loss of Gary Thompson, a longtime paramedic who spent more than 30 years serving the community.
Officials said Thompson began his career as a volunteer with the Sumner County Volunteer Ambulance Service, helping build the foundation for what would become today’s EMS system. He later became a paramedic and dedicated 32 years to caring for patients across Sumner County.
Colleagues remembered Thompson for his professionalism, commitment, and impact on the field, calling him a pioneer in local emergency medical services. EMS officials extended condolences to his family, friends, and those who worked alongside him.
