Tennessee Volunteers – Loss 8-4

The Tennessee Volunteers made a valiant effort in their game yesterday but came up short. The season came to a close as they lost to Texas 8-4 yesterday afternoon. The Vols took the lead first by scoring 2 in the second inning. However, Texas stormed back in the bottom of the inning with 3 runs to snatch the lead from the Vols. Tennessee tied things back up in the 4th inning with a pair of RBI singles. Texas got the runs right back though in the bottom half of the inning. Also, in the bottom half of the 4th inning, Tennessee’s assistant coach was ejected from the game after a heated exchange with umpires. After the ejection, Texas scored 2 runs on a controversial play at the plate. The Longhorns tacked on 1 more in the inning to make it 3 runs and a 3-run lead. Every time it looked like Tennessee would pull back into the game, Texas responded with runs to secure their lead. The Vols’ incredible season came to an end.
