September 19, 2024 – On Thursday morning, Sumner County Deputies were alerted to a BOLO from Wilson County for a white Chevy Tahoe involved in a shooting.
Deputies located the vehicle in the Bethpage area near Highway 31E and Gifford Lane, where they conducted a high risk traffic stop.
The driver, Dewight Corley, was taken into custody a short time later. Corley now faces several charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and felony evading.
While searching the vehicle, deputies found a loaded firearm, shell casings, and multiple windows that had been shot out. Corley, a convicted felon, was also linked to a shooting in Wilson County.
