A registered sex offender was arrested Monday after police say he was found near a daycare and playground in Hendersonville.
According to the Hendersonville Police Department, officers began investigating around 9:11 a.m. on July 20 after receiving reports that Keith Barcus, a registered sex offender, was walking near a daycare in the 100 block of Indian Lake Boulevard.
Officers responded and found Barcus sitting on a bench near a playground where children were present, police said.
Following the investigation, Barcus was taken into custody without incident and charged with violating the Sex Offender Registry.
He is being held at the Sumner County Jail on a $40,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Aug. 5.
