Portland High School is mourning the unexpected passing of English teacher Alyson Wheeler, who died Monday morning, January 19, 2026.
School officials said Wheeler was a dedicated educator who made a lasting impact on students, colleagues, and the school community through her passion for teaching, kindness, and commitment to her students. She is remembered as someone who touched countless lives in and beyond the classroom.
The school community extended its deepest sympathy to Wheeler’s family, friends, colleagues, and students, asking that they be kept in thoughts and prayers as the school continues to support one another in the days ahead.
