William “David” Stewart, age 76 of Gallatin, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024 surrounded by his family.

David was born in Portland, Tennessee to the late Cecil and Marie Stewart.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pansy Stewart; daughters, Mende Stewart Taylor (Lance), Emily Stewart Higdon (Mike), and Natalie Stewart England; grandchildren, Landon Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Brennan Taylor, Kaylor Gregory, and Della Rose England; sisters, Linda West and Anita West; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

David was a 1965 graduate of Portland High School, attended MTSU, and was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. Following his military service David was employed with TVA where he retired after 35 years of service in 2008.

He was an active member of First Baptist Church Gallatin where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School. David enjoyed serving his community by volunteering at the Sumner County Food Bank, now known as Feed Sumner.

Known as “Buddy” to his grandchildren, David enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to the beach, and anything on the water. He had a heart for people and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. from First Baptist Church Gallatin with Rev. John Penfield and Rev. Travis Fleming officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at the church. David will be laid to rest at a later date at Nashville National Cemetery.
