Virginia Deirdre (Didi) Sheen was born in West Virginia on 7/21/1955, and was murdered on her front lawn on 8/29/2022 in an attempt to save a friend and neighbor from an attempted murder-suicide by the neighbor’s crazed ex-partner. The neighbor, Laurie Gould, also died.

Daughter to Henry C. Steele and Phillis Rocker, she moved to Tucson, AZ at the age of 4. Later the family moved to Scottsdale, where she attended local schools. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Education from the University of Arizona.

She moved to Tennessee with her family in March of 2006. She loved everything about her new adopted home state. She worked her entire time in TN for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), where she was a Senior Product Analyst upon her death.

She is survived by her husband, Mickey Sheen of Hendersonville, son Riley Sheen and daughter Regan Naumovski of Nashville, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and her 95-year-old mother, all of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as many nephews and nieces across the country.

She loved her family and friends, life, travel, art, and helping others. Anyone who knew Didi would describe her as loving, courageous, creative, and a true free spirit. Some of Didi’s most joyful moments were spent exercising her creativity by creating art using the nature around her, specifically from her home garden often referred to as her “pride and joy.”

She also shared that joy with others while volunteering and teaching her style of art – Eco Printing and Heat Press – for a local not for profit organization called Daybreak Arts (formerly Poverty and the Arts, POVA) located in Nashville, Tennessee. Didi’s family hopes to commemorate her life through her artwork by sharing it with as many people as possible. She will be sorely missed by all.
