Viola Kemper Porter Hollars was born on August 25, 1933, in Cages Bend and passed away on September 12, 2024, at the age of 91.
She was saved and baptized in August of 1952.
The morning of her high school graduation, May 22, 1953, Viola married the love of her life, Robert Lee Porter. A union that lasted 31 years, during this union one son was born Donald Barry Porter. Viola was a great cook, loved flower gardening, but most of all she was a God-fearing woman and depended on the Lord each day of her life. A woman full of the spirit of the Lord. Viola was a member of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church for 73 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Martin Kemper; mother, Mayzell Howard; husbands, Robert Lee Porter, and Elton Pete Hollars; son, Donald Barry Porter; sister, Lottie Ann Shoulders; granddaughter, Brandi Porter Ladd; and great-granddaughter, Gracie Jolyn Ladd.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Matt Porter, and Josh Porter; great-grandchildren, Destiny Ladd, Patrick Ladd, Matthew Porter, Elijah Porter, Sadie Porter, Devon Porter, Zack Porter, Christian Porter, and Blaine Porter; great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Malaya; nieces and caregivers, Vickie Porter Thompson (Terry), Missy Porter Beasley (Craig); nephews, Ricky Porter (Peggy), Neal Shoulders; special friends, Linda Douglas, Crissy Graham (Kelly & Mattie), Frankie Downs, Cindy Sims, Steve and Jane Sudbury.
A graveside service was conducted on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the Crestview Memory Gardens with Bro. Frankie Downs officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
