Thomas Owen “Tom” Simmons, 90, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 8th, 2021.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Jackson Simmons and Leona Simmons, son, Todd Beauchamp Simmons, granddaughter, Erin Simmons, sister, Margaret Simmons Mayo, and brothers, John A. Simmons, Fred E. Simmons, Linwood E. Simmons, and Paul J. Simmons.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas Owen Simmons Jr., and Timothy Jhed Simmons (Tina), grandchildren, Thomas Boone Simmons (Anna Marsh), Chance Simmons (Chelsea), Stephanie Oliver (Jon), Megan Bratton (Jesse), Allison Tornquist (Jamie) and Caroline Simmons (Tyler Newland), great-grandchildren, Cadence and Andrew Oliver, Garrett, Kaleigh, and Marlie Tornquist, Ian and Eli Simmons, Jackson Boone Simmons, Gemma, and Wyatt Bratton. Tom is also survived by his brothers, Harry “Al” Simmons and Joseph Edward Simmons, along with many extended family and friends.

Tom was born in Kenly, North Carolina to Harry and Leona Simmons. He moved to Hendersonville, TN in 1968. Tom served his country in the United States Air Force at the age of 21. He met and married the love of his life, Billie Beauchamp while in the service in Texas. He worked his entire professional career with Genesco, Bell Brothers Shoe Company, where he retired as Vice President of Operations. Tom was always working, wanting to contribute, and be productive. After retirement, Tom worked for Ray Bowles Financial Consultants and was the smiling face at Sam’s Club, as the best greeter ever.

Tom loved the Lord, his sweetheart Billie, his family, and friends. He loved a good deal, be it a garage sale, thrift store, Goodwill, estate sale, or just something in someone passed on that he could tinker with and repurpose. Tom made sure everyone knew Jesus. He was a true prophet.

A Celebration of Life service for Tom will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, on Wednesday, September 15th at 1:00 PM, Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Jon Oliver, Jesse Bratton, Jamie Tornquist, Boone Simmons, and Chance Simmons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson and Ian Simmons, and Garrett Tornquist.
