Theodore “Ted” Harvey Kritikos, beloved son, father, husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022 at home in Hendersonville, TN surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 58 years old.

Affectionately known as “Teddy” by many, he was a one-of-a-kind personality. Adored by all who crossed his path, Ted never met a stranger. With a gift for gab and the timely one liner, Ted brought warmth and laughter to every encounter. He had an abundance of friends from many walks of life and he treasured each and every friendship.

Ted had a gift for storytelling and a penchant for turning the mundane experience into a vibrant, vivid, and often hilarious tale. With a mind that rarely forgot a trivial fact, date or occurrence, time spent with Ted always meant an opportunity to learn something new.

Ted was born on September 25, 1964, the third of four children to Beatrice Joan Harvey and Theodore Achilles Kritikos.

He grew up and spent the first forty-one years of his life in New Orleans, Louisiana, graduating from De La Salle High School and attending Nicholls State University. He worked for many years in the vibrant hotel industry in New Orleans utilizing his gift of human connection to enhance the experiences of so many who visited the unique city. He was a true New Orleanian who made friends with everyone he met. A walk through the French Quarter with Ted was always a fun experience as the many friends he made throughout the years were always part of the show. You quickly realized Ted was no ordinary guy.

Ted married the love of his life, Marcia Elizabeth Brown on April 17, 1998. They spent the early years of their marriage in New Orleans, and had three children, David Achilles, Amanda Alicia, and Andrew Theodore.

Although Ted and Marcia loved New Orleans, they moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee after Hurricane Katrina, and Ted and his family quickly became valued members of the community. They joined Our Lady of the Lake Church and enrolled the kids in the local Catholic school system. Ted was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9132, where he cherished being a part of their strong brotherhood and serving the community

Being a people person, Ted loved his work at Bluegrass Beverages, enjoying a great camaraderie with his co-workers and customers. He relished in his regular monthly poker games with good friends, and loved playing craps on the occasional trip to Las Vegas.

Ted had a keen interest in the colorful politics of Louisiana and passion for his beloved New Orleans Saints. It was always a good time getting together to cheer them on. Most of all though, Ted’s favorite place was to be comfortable at home with his wife and kids. His children were his pride and joy.

Ted is predeceased by his father, Theodore Achilles Kritikos.

Ted is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marcia Brown Kritikos; his three children David, Amanda, and Andrew; his mother Beatrice Joan Harvey Kritikos; siblings Lisa Kay Kritikos, Gina Kritikos Burnett (Keith), and Nicole Kritikos Provosty (Pratt); his in-laws Martha Brown and Mario Brown; and his siblings-in-law Fr. David Brown, Robert Brown (Tanya) and Dennis Brown (Diana).

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: DJ and Blake Brown; Peyton Brown; Victoria and Jose Perez; Cameron, Kyle, and Zoe Burnett; and Alexandre and Nicholas Provosty.

Ted will be dearly missed by all. Visitation will be held on October 28, 1-3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be officiated by Ted’s brother-in-law, Fr. David Brown, at 3:00 p.m. following the visitation. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1729 Stop 30 Rd., Hendersonville, Tennessee, 37075.
