Mrs. Shirley Meeks of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, she was 85 years old.

She was born September 14, 1936, in Savannah, Tennessee to the late Lawrence and Stella Franks.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Franklin Meeks.

Shirley is survived by daughters, Cynthia (Lamar) Sprouse, and Lisa (Gary) Phillips; Grandson, Spencer Phillips, Great-Granddaughter, Cali Rae Phillips; Brothers, Jim (Toni) Franks, and Roy (Dana) Franks; Sister, Ruby (Ted) Talbot.

Shirley had a successful career in the travel field where she traveled the country for Eastern Airlines, Amtrak, and a travel agency. Prior to her travel career, she spent several years at the Fisher Body Division of General Motors where she used her extensive seamstress skills in the upholstery department. She was a multi-tasker and often took on difficult jobs and found solutions.

She was an avid gardener and seamstress, and she enjoyed entertaining and took great pride in all she did. She was a devoted mother and wife, and she loved her family above all else. She also loved her dog, Blaze, who she took great care of.

She was a very active member at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, loved the Lord, and had no doubt she would spend eternity in Heaven.

Shirley was a bright and energetic person and could sense when people needed her help. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She will be sorely missed.

Funeral Services were held Monday, June 13 at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.

In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested donations be made to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, Sumner County Food Bank (checks payable to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville Food Bank), or Wounded Warriors.
