Sherry-Diane-Crutcher

Our dear mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Sherry Diane Crutcher, passed away peacefully at her home in Portland, Tennessee on June 15, 2024, at the age of 71, due to natural causes.

Sherry was born on October 7, 1952, to Charlie and Estelline Edens in Nashville, Tennessee as the feisty fourth of five children.

After she graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1970, she went on to study at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. She worked as the Victim Witness Coordinator at the District Attorney’s office in Clarksville, before following her dreams of living in Boston, Massachusetts, where she spent several years enjoying the big city life.

She loved her time in Boston, but soon realized she missed her family and moved home to Nashville to work as a legal secretary at Manier & Herod, where she would eventually retire.

Sherry was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She cherished her role as a mother to Amanda Leigh and Matthew David Crutcher. She instilled in her children the importance of being brave, honest, and independent, taking chances, having a voice, and that nothing was more important than family. When the grandchildren came along, she embraced that role too.

Being the youngest daughter and the fourth out of five children, Sherry’s siblings were her everything. The bond they shared was inseparable, unbreakable, and everlasting.

Sherry was a friend to many and cherished those relationships. Though, her health was failing, few people knew the extent at which she struggled. Her joy for life and family kept pushing through the pain.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength, boldness and bravery, and the importance of being true to yourself.

Sherry is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Charlie and Estelline Edens.

She is survived by her children, Amanda & Matthew Crutcher, eight wonderful grandkids: Chance Robichaud, Carrigan Pate (Sam), Caylee Robichaud, Makayla Ferguson (Scott), Caleb Crutcher, Cooper & Adalyn Rhea, and Caden Raper, five great-grandsons: Samuel, John Thomas, Knox, Arthur, and Brooks, and her siblings who she adored with her entire heart: Patricia Buntin (Bill), Brenda Dorris (Robert), Buzz Edens, & Ronnie Edens, plus her nieces and nephews who she loved deeply.
