Sandra Lee Moore Huddleston, 77, of Gallatin, passed away on December 3, 2024, after a long illness.
Born in Madison on July 8, 1947, to the late Thurman Lee and Nell Shockley Moore, she grew up in Old Hickory where she spent time being popular at the Old Hickory Teen Town. Her fun-loving spirit and feistiness were complimented by her southern grace all her life. Those deep belly laughs and twinkling eyes lit up her whole face!
Following her 1965 graduation from Dupont High School and later worked in administration at Sumner Regional Medical Center until her retirement.
In 1975, while dancing the night away with girlfriends, she met a dark-haired, mustached man whom she immediately proclaimed to be her future husband. She did just that in 1976 when she and Ronny Huddleston tied the knot and embarked on the love of their lifetimes and raised four children. Their life together was full of adventure; they set off to Florida for their honeymoon, Sandra riding on the back of Daddy’s motorcycle, packed with little more than excitement and adoration for each other. We can picture them now, him teasing her and her holding onto “her Ronny”—not a care in the world.
Of course, there would be cares and worries to come but they faced them together. A true love story and partnership in every way. They were happily married for 47 years until his death last December.
In her early life, she nurtured a talent for cross-stich, ceramics and painting. Her home reflected this creativity both with her own creations and the crafts and fine décor she collected over the years. She especially loved decorating and entertaining her family for the holidays—a time when every available surface in her home revealed the particular season. There were not just Christmas trees and stockings or Easter bunnies or Thanksgiving pumpkins. Not for Sandra! Her sense of fun meant that food was served from elegant (and often “extravagant”) platters and butter was spreadable with an array of seasonal spreaders. Sandra also loved flowers and her plants—and true to form—the planters she grew them in. She loved spending time shopping and lunching with Shirley, Wanda and Linda and spending time with many friends. With her Vera Bradley purse slung over her shoulder, she often bought things just because she thought they were “cute and darlin’” meaning she could always pull a gift out of her attic at a moment’s notice. She also loved ice cream and considered chocolate an important food group.
Most of all, Sandra was a devoted wife and mother—and later a joyful and generous grandmother and great-grandmother—all the lights of her life. She was also devoted to her church, Corum Hill Baptist Church and attended faithfully until a debilitating stroke in 2020. She recently reaffirmed her faith in the Lord, and we know she is safe with Him and her loved ones who went before, dancing somewhere in the sky.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Carole (Buddy) Moore Savage, great-great-grandson, Zaiden Hoy; brother-in-law Billy Frank Huddleston; sister-in-law, Jolene Bradley; and brother-in-law, Billy Bradley.
She is survived by her children: Jenny (Danny) Gann, Connie (Billy) Taylor, Dawn (Tiffany) Dale, and Eric (Tommie Skipworth) Huddleston.
She also leaves to miss her many loving grandchildren: Renee Hoy, Matt West, Kaitlyn Freeman (Devin), Hailey Warren (Chance), Jacob Taylor, Jared (Nina) Taylor, Noah Huddleston, and Ethan Huddleston; great-grandchildren, Michael Hoy, Hunter Hoy, Jaden Gurley, Camden Escue, Braylin Suddarth, Jay Lee Parker, Graylen Warren, Kayson Parker, River Warren, and Kobe Stout; and great-great grandchildren, Nova Hoy, Mason Hoy, and Oaklynn Hoy; her brothers, Terry (Frieda) Moore and Rick (Wanda) Moore and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Danny (Bonnie) Huddleston and sister-in-law Helen (Donald) Durham.
We would like to express our gratitude to our aunt, Bonnie, who was devoted to her sister-in-law, never faltering on her promise to help care for Sandra. She visited faithfully several days week, and we are eternally thankful. We wish to thank NHC Gallatin and Highpoint Hospice for their diligent care.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 12 PM. Burial will follow immediately after the 2 PM service. Sellars Family Heritage, 100 Albert Gallatin Ave., Gallatin, TN 37066.

Once I stood in the night, with my head bowed low, in the darkness as black as could be. And my heart felt alone and I cried “Oh Lord, don’t hide your face from me. Hold my hand, all the way, every hour, every day, from here to the great Unknown. Take my hand, let me stand, where no one stands alone.”
