Sadie Lenora Durrett, known to many as Nanny (age 83), of Cottontown, passed away on July 6, 2026, at home where she spent her last days surrounded by family and friends.
Nanny was born in Portland, Tennessee, to James Carney Broadrick and Sadie Estelle Briley Broadrick on July 11, 1942.
Nanny was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth Durrett, and her grandchild, Hannah Dickerson.
Nanny is survived by her children, Kevin (Kay) Durrett, Tina (Art) Perea, and Sammy (Belinda) Durrett; grandchildren, Candi Creekmore, Jessica Villarreal Hays, Samantha (Todd) Dorris, Courtney (Jake) Smith, Abby (Jake) White, and Haley Durrett; great-grandchildren, Braxton Creekmore, Toby Hays, Bristol Sanchez, Teddy Hays, Ari Hays, Emma Dorris, River Hays, Jack Dorris, Seager Smith, Daisy White, Brady Smith, Beckett Smith, and Lucy White.
Nanny loved visiting, shopping, and spending time with family and friends. She spent many years cooking and catering for others. Many even knew her as the “Cake Lady” because of her delicious cakes. Some people were lucky enough to have eaten at her restaurant or own one of her special cookbooks.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Brother Matt Miller officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 7, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday, July 8, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (funeral time) at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Portland Memorial Gardens.
