She married her college sweetheart, Arnold, on August 17, 1956 and was a devoted wife and mother raising three children, one with major disabilities for whom she was caregiver for 54 years. Ruth worked for Fairview Farm Restaurant in the Bartonville, Illinois area for many years and later for Southside Mission in Peoria, Illinois. She continued to volunteer in many areas, particularly in playing the organ for services.

Ruth’s church home was Grace United Methodist Church in Peoria, Illinois, where she served in many capacities over four decades, and then Bradley Epworth Church in Peoria where she enjoyed being an organist. She moved to Brookdale Assisted Living-Gallatin in 2015 to reside near her daughter. She was known for playing the piano and organ, working puzzles, reading, and making people feel welcomed. Ruth was a very talented woman who experienced a very rich life. She did not hold back in serving Him and others.
