Roy G. Dycus, age 79, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026. The funeral service with military honors will be held in the chapel of Sellars Family Heritage on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. The Family will be receiving friends and family on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 2, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ron Dycus, Big Gerry, Little Gary, Ryan Striby, Mark Clark, and Terry Browning.
Roy was deeply proud of his service in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that reflected his courage, dedication, and love for his country. Among his greatest accomplishments was earning the Bronze Star Medal, an honor he treasured and wore with great pride. His military service was a source of lifelong fulfillment and a testament to his strength of character.
Beyond his service, Roy found his greatest happiness in the simple joys of life. He cherished every moment spent with his family, who meant more to him than anything else. Whether he was casting a line on a peaceful day of fishing or enjoying a friendly game of poker with family and friends, Roy embraced every opportunity to laugh, make memories, and enjoy the company of those he loved. His legacy of service, devotion to family, and love of life’s simple pleasures will be remembered by all who knew him.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Jip Dycus and Louise Holder; Sister, Alessia Gocher; Grandson, Nathan Striby. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Texas Dycus; Children, Ronald (Gina) Dycus and Debra (Ryan) Striby; Grandchildren, Kylee (Dustin) Daily, Savannah Dycus, Elizabeth Dycus, Haley (Brandon) Prine, and Josh Striby; Great-Grandchildren, Parker Daily, Grayson Daily, and Everett Daily.
