Robert Norman Davis Obit

Robert Norman Davis passed peacefully at Hendersonville Hospital, April 14, 2025. Bob was born July 30, 1938, to Geraldine Elizabeth (Sliker) Davis and Norman DuBois Davis in Plainfield, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Stephen Smith.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Elizabeth Ann (Paine) Davis, his three children from his marriage to Barbara, Keith Robert Davis (Renee), Kathryn (Kathy) Beth Davis, Karl Thomas Davis, step-daughters Lori Hollaway Carter (Logan) and Lynn Hollaway Sanders, brother Kenneth Charles Davis (Martha), sister Joan Elizabeth Smith, grandchildren Landon Davis, Elijah Davis, Neil Davis, Nathan Davis and Charlotte (Charlie) Carter, a host of nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Bob graduated from Penn State in 1960, where he was active in Air Force ROTC. After graduation, he served in the Air Force in Fairbanks, Alaska. He attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and he earned his Masters Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1970. Bob had a lengthy career in hospital administration serving as a hospital administrator in Chicago, IL, Delmar, NY, Mt. Sinai hospital in New York City, Vanderbilt University Hospital, and Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV. He began a consultancy, Resource Development Associates, and worked in hospital process improvement for more than 40 additional years.

Raised near the Jersey Shore, Bob loved the ocean, boats, water, camping and hiking in the Smokey Mountains. Bob loved music, and his beautiful tenor voice was among the church choirs at both Bluegrass Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Hendersonville. He was a precocious oldest sibling, a driven hospital professional, a volunteer coach across many of his kids’ baseball and soccer teams, a dedicated Christian and long time Sunday School teacher. Bob and Liz loved to travel and enjoyed cruising and visiting new places the last several years. He loved his family and the Lord, and the family is comforted knowing he is in heaven and free from cancer and any pain.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 21, 2025, 3pm-6pm at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center, and an hour prior to the memorial service at First Baptist Church Hendersonville Chapel. Funeral will be Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 11am in the FBC Hendersonville Chapel, with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating.
