Robert Lee Gilland, age 84, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his residence in Gallatin, Tennessee, on March 1, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
A native of Glasgow, Kentucky, Robert was born on May 31, 1941, to the late Wallace Lee Gilland and Nola (Wheeler) Gilland.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Ann Ives Gilland; his daughter, Julie Gilland; his brother, William Gilland; and his grandson, Bart Dedman.
Robert proudly served the community of Bowling Green as a Sergeant Firefighter with the Bowling Green Fire Department, retiring after 22 years of dedicated service. Beyond his time with the fire department, he was a true entrepreneur and lifelong farmer. He owned and operated Robert’s Used Cars and, from his home, ran a mechanic and body shop while also operating a towing subsidiary connected to his business.
He is survived by his sister, Judy Green; his son, Jerry Gilland (Denise); and his grandchildren: Kelley Fulkerson; Becky Stetz (Mike); Nikki Lane (Travise); Kristen Falcone (Greg); and Brandon Gilland (Jessica).
Robert also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Justin Bradford (Lily), Emma Russell, Oliver Fulkerson, Austin Bradford, Gideon Lane, Lyncoln Stetz, Chapman Falcone, Adler Falcone, Colton Gilland, and Trenton Gilland; as well as one great-great-grandson, Oswald Bradford.
He is also survived by his nephews, Bobby Green (Sheree) and Benji Green.
Visitation will be held at the Broadway Chapel on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Broadway Chapel.
