Mr. Robert James Helson, better known as Bobby, age 74, of Gallatin, TN, passed away at home, Saturday morning, of March 11, 2023.

Bobby was born August 2, 1948, to the late Cecil and Syble Helson.

Bobby was a Police Officer for over 34 years. He started his career in Gallatin, but soon transferred to Westmoreland; where he was the police chief for a short time. Later, Bobby returned to Gallatin, where he retired from his career in law enforcement. He loved being a police officer, and was known for being a fair and understanding supervisor to his officers.

He enjoyed fellowship with others over a good meal. Whether he was hanging out at Waggeners, at 2:00 A.M., while working the midnight shift, or having a good old time at Lakewinds, cutting up with waitresses and friends. Most recently, his favorite spot was Mables. You could find him there almost every evening socializing with friends, and fellow current or retired law enforcement officers. Stories were told over, and over again, about the good old days.

Most of all, he was a dedicated father and grandfather, who loved his family unconditionally. He was always there when they needed him! Pa Helson was greatly loved, will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.

He is survived by his son, Robert “Chris” Helson (Christy); grandchildren, Katelyn Helson Brown (Preston) and Kaden Helson; brother, Hollis Helson (Jewel); sister, Patricia Presley (Ronnie); numerous nieces and nephews; and good friends.

In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his brother, Roger Helson.
