Richard Carter Owen III, of Hendersonville, TN went for his final run on Monday, December 9, 2024.
Dick, as he was known by friends, was born May 31, 1943 in Gallatin, TN.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend. He was a proud graduate of the McCallie School and Vanderbilt University. He led for many years the RC Owen Company, a tobacco business started by his family that can be traced back to the 1650s. His greatest joys were his family, his cars and his dedication to health and fitness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Carter Jr. and Frances Penn Owen, his sisters Mary Anne Owen Bell and Ruth Owen Franklin Lee.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Beverlye Hansen Owen, their daughters Cindy Owen Eckardt (David), their children Davis and Carter and Kim Owen Robertson and her children John and Owen, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family are invited to gather in his memory from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Thursday 12/12/24 at Foxland Country Club 1024 Club View Drive, Gallatin, TN 37066.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sumner County Family YMCA or Safe Place for Animals in Gallatin.
