James “Ray” Alkire, 60, of Portland, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025. He was born in Nashville on July 15, 1964. He was a graduate of La Vergne High School. In his earlier days, he enjoyed playing guitar. Ray took great pride in his work as a printing press operator for ProAmpac for nearly 40 years. Outside of work, Ray enjoyed classic cars and relaxing at home. Above all, Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Jean Bean; granddaughter, Naomi; and sister-in-law, Michele.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 12 years, Theresa; sons, Jordan Grey (Jessica) Alkire, and Deven Alkire; stepchildren, Dana (Andy) Clark, and Jerrit Heggie; father, Bobby Bean; grandchildren, Noah, Josie, Bristol, Delilah Rey, Kristen, Macey, and Hudson; “Poppa’s Little Sweetie”, Emeri Bleu; siblings, Jeff Alkire, Libby (Adam) Jacobs, and Bobby (Melisa) Bean, Jr.; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 1:00PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at West Harpeth Funeral Home located at 6962 Charlotte Pike in Nashville. A Celebration of Ray’s Life will begin at 1:00PM on Thursday in the Chapel at West Harpeth. Following the service, Ray will be laid to rest in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens with the Werthan Packaging Group serving as Honorary Pallbearers.
