Phyllis Joanne King, born on July 21, 1943, in Moline, Illinois and spent her earlier years in Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 15, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee. A devoted homemaker, Phyllis dedicated her life to caring for her family and fostering a loving and nurturing environment.
Throughout her life, Phyllis and her family moved frequently, following her husband during his military career where they resided in several places, Greeneville, Tennessee; Columbia, South Carolina; Panama; and El Paso, Texas, before settling in Clarksville, Tennessee, upon his retirement. Each community felt the warmth of her spirit, as she forged lasting friendships wherever they lived.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Scottie King Jr., and daughter-in-law, Allison King; her daughter, Sheila Parks, and son-in-law, Chris Parks; and her treasured grandchildren—Brooke Moss (Alex), Ryan Parks, John Parks, Jessica King and fiance Josiah Lockwood, Jacob King (Taylor), Juli King, Jaina King and fiance David Froelich, and Justin King (Aspen Carter). Additionally, she was the proud great-grandmother of numerous great-grandchildren, including Hayden Rice, Harper Lockwood, Luke King, Casen King, Wrenley King, Leilani Buchanan, Riley Froelich, Chandler Froelich, Niklaus Hunt, Noah King, Logan Froelich, Chlöe Moss, and Penelope Moss. Phyllis is also survived by her sister, Carol Vrchoticky.
Phyllis was preceded in death by: her husband Scottie King Sr., father, Herbert Brown, mother, Jennie Carter Brown; sisters, Barb Johnson, Beverly Loveless, Sandy Hamilton; and her first husband who passed during the Vietnam War, Bobby Hunt.
A memorial service in honor of Phyllis will be held on January 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home with Bill Sorrells officiating. Prior to the service, family and friends are invited to attend a visitation beginning at 11:00 AM on the same day. https://www.andersonfuneralhome.org
