Peggy Knight, age 79 of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
Peggy was born on August 14, 1943 to the late Felix and Josephine “Josie” Knight.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Felix “Bubby” Knight, James “Jimmy” Knight, Bobby Knight, Juanita “Sissy” Woods, Mable Whitaker, Joyce Cole, and Betty Hagewood.
She is survived by her sisters, Shirley Huffines and Frances Merryman; brother, Alfred Knight (Pam); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Peggy was a longtime caregiver, working for many years with Mother Maybelle Carter and later John and June Cash for over thirty years. She traveled all over the world with the Carter/Cash family and made many friends both here and abroad.
She was also an accomplished author, publishing four books about her time with the Carter and Cash families. A true caregiver at heart, Peggy continued to care for people for many years even up until the time that she was in assisted and skilled living facilities.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Sumner Funeral & Cremation Lakeside. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens with her nephews and great-nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until time of service.
