Mrs. Govan was born June 1, 1935, the same year as Elvis & Pavarotti, as she liked to say, in Tinsman, AR to the late Brady Ross Watson and Floriece Elizabeth Thomason Watson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Francis Hawks Govan; brothers, Charles Ross Watson and Benjamin Peter Watson; and sisters, Sarah Elizabeth Eubanks, Elsie Lea Kyzer Ashcraft, and infant sister, Floriece Elizabeth Watson.

She is survived by son, Henry Watson Govan (Angela) of Castalian Springs; daughter, Elizabeth Govan Hentz (David) of Duluth, GA; grandchildren, Matthew Henry Govan (Jordyn), Benjamin Edward Govan, Gregory Watson Hentz (Andrea), and Stuart Davis Hentz; and great-grandchildren, Ella Kate Govan, Hawks Lane Govan, and Davis Graham Govan. Also, survived by sister-in-love, Jean Watson, wife of Pete Watson.

Mrs. Govan was a teacher in the Memphis City School System for 38 years. Initially, as an Art teacher, she had one of the first art shows on television broadcast on PBS in the mid 60’s. She changed to elementary education, mostly 3rd grade and in the late 70’s she had the first classroom in Tennessee that had computers for every student.

She arranged flowers for her church for many years which were artistic creations of their own. She was an avid gardener, a talented artist, active member DAR & Daughters of Iona and a lover of Opera & classical music, but nothing was closer to her heart than her Lord & her family.
