Palmer Rutledge Boland

Palmer Rutledge Boland, age 79, of Gallatin, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Sumner Regional Medical Center.

Palmer was born in Charleston, South Carolina to the late Harry F. and Nadia (Dawson) Boland. Palmer grew up in Orlando, Florida, and later as an adult moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida, where he was an all-night disc jockey and engineer at the radio station WEZY. It was there that he met the love of his life, Carolyn, who also worked at the radio station.

Palmer continued working in radio in Gadsden, Alabama before finally moving to Gallatin, Tennessee in 1984, where he worked for Alexander Funeral Home. He also worked at WSIX in Nashville, before starting his own company, MP Security. In addition, he was in a partnership with Advanced Alarm Technologies since 2004.

Palmer was an Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin, a CASA volunteer, a member of the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce, and a longtime member of the Gallatin Lions Club, where he was Lion of the Year for 2009-2010.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carolyn (Holt) Boland, son Keith (Sheilla) of Alabama, daughters Kathy Boland and Kristine Boland of Gallatin, Tennessee, grandsons, Justin Burt and Edward Hill, Jr., and his Golden Labrador, Kassidy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin, 167 W. Main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066, or to the Gallatin Lions Club, P.O. Box 912, Gallatin, TN 37066.

Family Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, with Visitation on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. There will also be a Visitation on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Gallatin with the Celebration of Life service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Lucian Borders, Eric Cantrell, Stan Carver, Mike Corbin, Chuck Gregory, Doug Moore, Sam Rickman, and Butch Veazey are serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are members of The Gallatin Lions Club.
