Michael “Chase” Edwards, beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle and friend, unexpectedly passed away on July 26, 2023.

He was born in Atlanta, GA, on February 2, 2006.

Chase was loved by so many. He was the definition of a true friend. His enthusiasm, charisma, compassion, and affection never once failed to light up any room. Chase was the phone call you would always answer and someone who could always provide a laugh or hug when it was needed the most.

Chase attended Pope John Paul II Preparatory School in Hendersonville, TN, and was entering his senior year. He enjoyed many different sports while growing up, but his love of all school sports was basketball where he was most recently a Varsity Captain.

Chase also followed in his father’s footsteps and loved the game of golf and any course he could get on. And of course, there was his love of weightlifting. If you needed to find him, you could bet he was at either Gold’s Gym or Crunch Fitness.

And then there was the other side of Chase….who thoroughly enjoyed writing, cooking, traveling, Ted Talks, and Youth in Government….anything to stretch his mind. Chase was going to be studying abroad in England, this fall semester of his senior year. He couldn’t wait to get there.

He was known for his larger than life personality, his infectious laugh, his intense desire to succeed, and was always readily available to offer a hug.

Chase is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jesse Hiram Edwards; and Hazel Buffington Edwards.

Chase is survived by his father, John Michael Edwards; his mother, Sally Block Edwards; siblings Jonathan Turner Edwards (Lyndi), and Ashton Edwards Bennett (Jeremy); maternal grandparents, Raymond Matthias Block; Mary Lee McAllister Block. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Declen, Bayler, Grayam, and Landry Bennett; and Braelynn, Lyla, and Maddy Jo Edwards. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Hendersonville, TN, on Saturday, August 5, 2023, 12 pm-2 pm, followed by a funeral mass at 2 pm. A reception will follow downstairs in Saint Joseph Hall where there will be an open mic for friends and family to share their most favorite memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chase’s name to Tennessee Circle of Hope – State Chapter for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. https://afsp.org/tncircle or to The Vaughn Thomas Foundation https://www.vaughnthomasborumfoundation.org/.
