Mary K. Adams Obit

Mary Kathleen Adams (lovingly known as Mary K.), age 81, of Portland, passed away peacefully at Highpoint Health-Sumner in Gallatin, November 14th, 2025, following a serious illness. She was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas on January 1st, 1944, to the late Andrew Miles Gunnell and the late Louise Smith Gunnell.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams is preceded in death by her siblings, Peggye Goetz, Sue Berryman, and Andy Gunnell.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Frank “Bill” Adams of Portland; children, Robin Hess of Portland; Bill “Little Bill” Adams (Julie) of Goodlettsville; and Karen Bogart of Portland; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Rebecca, Rachel, Christopher, Mason, Carson, and Anna; and six great grandchildren, Samuel, Lennon, August, Tor’i, Tatum, and Reggie, Jr.

Mrs. Adams lived in Stuttgart until leaving for Baptist Nursing School in Memphis, Tennessee. After graduating, Mrs. Adams spent 40 years as a registered nurse.

Mrs. Adams and her husband are longtime members of First Baptist Church in Portland, where she was a devoted choir member for many years. Mrs. Adams enjoyed traveling across the country, visiting family, and music.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Mrs. Adams at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at First Baptist Church Portland, with Bro. Greg McCoy officiating.

Visitation for Mrs. Adams will be on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm (service time) at First Baptist Church Portland.

Flowers can be delivered to Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home (715 South Broadway- Portland, TN 37148) or in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home (P.O. Box 2206-Brentwood, TN 37024).
