Mary Jean McDonald, a faithful servant of the Lord, entered into eternal rest on July 23rd, 2025, in Hendersonville, TN. Born on September 6th, 1934, in Lafayette, TN, Mary’s life was a testament to unwavering faith, enduring love, and joyful spirit.
Mary embraced life with spunk and vivacity. Her love for country and Gospel music and dance was infectious, especially during her cherished years at Old Hickory Towers. Her favorite song was “Go Rest High On That Mountain” by Vince Gill, a melody that resonated deeply with her spirit.
Mary’s passion for the color red was as bold as her personality. Her vibrant wardrobe not only showcased her love for life but also her flair for fashion. Always elegantly dressed, she turned heads wherever she went, embodying the essence of a classy lady.
Family and friends were the heart of Mary’s world. She relished gatherings filled with food, laughter, and fellowship, especially during the holidays. Some of her favorite moments were the times she spent with her grandchildren along with dining out at Red Lobster, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Top Hog with her son, Dwain. The memories of family vacations and traveling with her daughter, Kathy, were treasures she held close to her heart.
A woman of enduring faith, Mary found peace and reassurance knowing that God was with her, guiding and protecting her through all of life’s ups and downs. Even in the face of losing two children, her trust in her Lord, Jesus Christ never wavered. The pages of her journals are a testament to her humble devotion and unwavering belief.
Mary’s kindness, determination, humility, and generosity were felt by all who knew her. She loved wholeheartedly and openly spoke the words, “I love you” to everyone she met. Her spunky and vivacious character brought light to every room she entered.
As we celebrate Mary’s beautiful life, we remember the laughter, the dances, the vibrant reds, and the melodies that defined her journey. Her legacy of love and faith continues to inspire us all.
Those who have passed on before her are her parents, Virgil and Dona White, brother, Sammy White, children Kathy McDonald and Marty McDonald, and husband of over 40 years, Bill McDonald. Those left behind to cherish her memory are son, Dwain (Jennifer) McDonald, grandchildren, Drew (Amber) McDonald, Ginger McDonald, Anna Lee (Jason) Collingwood, and great-grandchildren, Tyson McDonald, several nieces and nephews, a multitude of loving friends and extended family members.
