Mary Ellen Dozier Carney was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to Mary Helen Gray Dozier and Ernest Melborn Dozier. She married Thomas Carney and became his devoted partner as they built a home, raised their family, and pursued their dreams. Mary Ellen loved creating a welcoming, beautiful home for family and friends. Marriage and children led her to graciously channel her intended career as a commercial artist into baking, home decorating, and creating greeting cards, scrapbooks, paintings, dresses and clothing, handmade gifts, and so much more. Mary Ellen was momma and friend to everyone. She never met a stranger and walked away without having them in her heart and her in theirs. She and Tommy were long-time members of Laguardo Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Thomas Carney, parents, Helen and Ernest Dozier, and brother, Bo Dozier. She is survived by her two daughters, Sanda Carney and Lisa (Ted) Brickenden; grandchildren: Caleb (Britney) Fesler, Ethan (Katherine) Fesler, Victoria (Garrett) Bondurant, and Chandler Brickenden; great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Michael, Bryce, and Rhea; sisters-in-law: Charlene Anderson, Billie Magill, and Faye (Donnie) Clark; brother-in-law: Charles Carney; several beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members; and her kitty baby: Penelope.
