It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark David Johnson, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at the age of 55.
Born on Saturday, December 19th, 1970, in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the only child of David Ray “Dave” and Linda Coulter Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his fiancée, Michelle King; his daughter, Olivia Jones; and his four-legged companions, Gunther and Leni. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mabel; and his fur baby, Macy.
Mark was a graduate of McGavock High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Tennessee in Knoxville, which was his favorite place in the whole world. Since he was a young boy, Mark has been a season ticket holder at Neyland Stadium. His love for UT sports was unwavering and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team, whether it was football, basketball, or baseball. He will forever be a “Vol For Life”.
He built a respectable career and dedicated close to 20 years to the fitness industry. Mark was the proud owner of Competitive Edge Strength and Conditioning as well as American Nutritional Wholesalers in Hermitage, Tennessee. His passion for God, health, and fitness illuminated the lives of his family, friends, and clients.
Mark’s kind and generous spirit knew no bounds, and he was a friend to all. His absence will be profoundly felt, yet his legacy of love, laughter, and strength will continue to inspire us, and his memory will forever live on in our hearts.
The Celebration of Life Service will be held in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet on Saturday, April 4th, 2026, at 01:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 4th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
