We celebrate the beautiful life of Margaret E. Harper, an upbeat and energetic soul for whom age was only a number. Margaret’s zest for life was infectious, and she touched the hearts of everyone she met.
A hard worker who found her professional passion in laundry, Margaret was a people person who never met a stranger. Feisty and confident, she loved meeting new people and could read a room at a glance. Her honesty was legendary- honest when the occasion called for it-and her pragmatic life advice was a beacon for many.
Music was the soundtrack of her life. She delighted in singing along with modern pop and hip-hop, as well as grooving to classics by Marvin Gaye, Santana, Prince, and Fleetwood Mac. Her home was always filled with music, and she cherished every note.
Though not renowned for her cooking, Margaret could make a mean sandwich that brought smiles to faces. She embraced travel and reading, passions that kept her young at heart and enriched her vibrant spirit.
As a grandmother, she was wonderfully unorthodox, forever youthful, and full of joy. Margaret loved deeply and passionately, her family and dear friends always feeling the warmth of her compassion.
Margaret passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 22nd, 2025, in Hendersonville, TN. While we will miss her fierce spirit and loving heart, we carry forward the happiness she brought into our lives.
Let us honor her memory by embracing the joy, laughter, and music she so freely shared. In Margaret’s own words: “Yeah, buddy!”
Those who have passed on before her are parents Willie Gann and Sarah and Wilson Ransom Jones, brother, Lester Thomas McPherson, and sister, Maudine Jacobs.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are children, Elizabeth Yvonne (William) Lee and James David Harper, grandchildren, Shanna (Ronnie) Craddock, Kathy Vaughn, Sarah (Luis) Alvarado, and Jameson Harper, great grandchildren, Sarah Biggs, Nathan Alvarado, Hailey Chrestman, Lily Vaughn, Ava Alvarado, Emily Rossow, Adrian Alvarado, and brother, Billy (Oma) Gann.
