Margaret Anne Norris Obit

Margaret Anne Norris (McClarnon) age 63, of Gallatin, TN, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Margaret was born on September 11, 1962 in Minot, North Dakota, the third of four children. As part of a proud Air Force family, she spent her childhood moving across the country before her family made Middle Tennessee their home. She graduated from Gallatin High School – always ready to sing the Green Wave fight song – and later earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Western Kentucky University.

After college, Margaret began her career with the Gallatin News Examiner, where she worked for many years and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. She wore many titles throughout her life – daughter, sister, wife, mother, Mimi, friend, and artist – and she carried each one with joy and love.

Margaret was a longtime member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, where she found community, belonging and a place to share her warmth and creativity over the years.

Margaret saw beauty everywhere. She was known for snapping photos of sunsets, hummingbirds, flowers, changing leaves, and anything that sparked her artist’s eye – moments she often later turned into paintings. She loved Christmas, good food, cooking for others, a lively party, growing tomatoes, creating art, exercising, and laughing until tears fell. She was silly, joyful, sentimental and wonderfully attentive to the little things.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Marshall H. McClarnon Sr. and Anne West McClarnon; her brother Marshall H. McClarnon Jr.; and sisters Mary Lee Kreger and Susan McClarnon.

She is survived by her husband Robert Norris, her daughter Kaytlin Gregory (John); and her five grandchildren, Sam, Finley, JS, Ellie and Jack Gregory. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.

Her family extends their deepest gratitude to her caregivers, Suzi Supica, Casandra Lauderdale, and Kathy McCurdy, who cared for her with tenderness, dignity, and unwavering compassion during the final years of her life.

Margaret’s life was a masterpiece of love, creativity and connection. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

To honor Margaret, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 611B Dobbins Pike Gallatin, TN 37066 from 2pm-5pm.
