Marcia DeGrella Shaffer, age 85, of Hendersonville, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021.
She was born on April 30, 1936, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late George J. DeGrella and Mary Fashauer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
She is survived by husband, Richard (Buddy) Shaffer Jr., children, Richard W. Shaffer III (Brooke Lee) Debbie Hollis, Joseph L. (Candy) Shaffer; sisters, Marie (Louis) Bervoets, Joan Holmes (Johnny, deceased), Cheryl (Mike) Conquest, Cathy (Roger) DeShone and Margaret McCorkle (Andy, deceased); brothers, George (Jeanne) DeGrella, David (Nancy) DeGrella, Tommy DeGrella, and Johnny (Rita) DeGrella. Marcia was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Richey (April) Shaffer, Jennifer (Josh) Napier, Leigh Ann (Ian) Knuckles, Mindy (Martin) Perkins, Frank (Caitlin) Hardy, and Dillon Hollis, as well as 10 great-grandchildren, 23 nieces and nephews, 32 great-nieces and nephews, 1 niece deceased, 1 nephew deceased, and 1 great-nephew deceased.
Marcia loved her personal chef, who created her favorite yellow cake with chocolate icing, Donald (Sherry) Croslin. She was also very thankful for her special caretaker, Shannon (Michael) Noe.
A celebration of life service for Marcia will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, officiated by Father Wilkgenbusch.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, in Hendersonville, on Tuesday, August 10th from 2 pm-6 pm, Wednesday, August 11th from 4 pm-8 pm, and again at church, on Thursday, August 12th from 10:30 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marcia’s memory may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church or the Shriners Children Hospital.
