Lorna L. Saylor, 81, of Russell, Kentucky passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
She was born on August 8, 1944, in New Martinsville, West Virginia, to the late Charles A. Ritchie and Verna M. Martin Ritchie.
Lorna is survived by her devoted husband Thomas Saylor, one son Steven Jones and his wife Tamara of Hendersonville, Tennessee, one daughter, Donna Ball and her husband Mike of Amelia, Ohio, one grandson, Noah Reishman, and a host of other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Lorna will be remembered as a gentle and compassionate woman whose life reflected quiet strength, deep faith, and a sincere love for others. A devoted member of Advance Methodist Church, she lived her faith through service and kindness. As a homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming home and was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Thomas, with whom she shared more than 42 wonderful years of marriage filled with loyalty, companionship, and cherished memories.
Professionally, Lorna was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. She served as an executive assistant to the president of Kentucky Electric Steel, where she was respected for her professionalism, organization, and quiet leadership behind the scenes. She also faithfully served as the former treasurer of the Greenup County Library Board, handling her responsibility with care and integrity.
Lorna had a heart for caring for others and devoted much of her time volunteering with Community Hospice in Ashland. Helping others brought her great joy, and she often preferred to work quietly behind the scenes, never seeking praise or recognition for the good she did. Her life was a beautiful example of humility, generosity, and service, and she will be remembered fondly by all who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Carman Funeral Home with Pastor Sean Shroll officiating. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens, in Russell.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the service hour, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Carman Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to be made in Lorna’s honor to Advance Methodist Church, or Community Hospice.
