Lorene “Laurie” Hulsey, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at her home in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Laurie was born on May 23, 1929, to Robert and Eva (Winchester) Lax in New Concord, Kentucky.
Laurie graduated from New Concord High School and at age 17 was put on a bus to attend Draughon’s Business School in Nashville. After graduating from business school, Laurie went to work for General Shoe Company.
On May 26, 1950, Laurie married the love of her life, Bryan Hulsey. They celebrated 58 years of marriage prior to his passing. Laurie was a devout Christian woman who loved her role as a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved gardening and was a talented seamstress.
Laurie is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Eva Lax; her husband Bryan Hulsey; and brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas (Alice) Lax and Bobby (Barbara) Lax.
She is survived by her children Pamela (Ken) Genung, Jeffery (Lauren) Hulsey, and Christie (Eric) Witten; grandchildren Michael (Jenny) Genung, Courtney (Tony) Pinkelton, Caroline (Derek) Alter, Jordan (Allison) Hulsey, and James Hulsey. In addition, she is survived by 9 great-grandchildren Madison, Molly Brooke, Barrett Pinkelton, Colin and Cole Alter, Mason Corman, Marley Genung, and Kathrynn and Kennedy Hulsey; sister Joyce (David) Bogard, “sister of the heart” Carol Jane (Ron) Galemore, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 10 am-1 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 1 pm with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. https://www.hendersonvillefh.com
