Linda Lee Rust, born on May 11, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee. She was a remarkable individual whose life was characterized by independence, strength, and a profound love for her family and friends.
Linda was an extraordinary woman, known for her resilience and spirited personality. She was often described as “strong as an ox,” maintaining a vibrant life for many years. Throughout her life, her friends and her faith in God were her world, providing her with joy and purpose. Linda relished the small pleasures in life, such as playing cards with her friends, a testament to her warm and engaging nature.
She was deeply committed to her community and enjoyed attending The River Church in Portland, where she found connection and fellowship with those around her. Her willingness to help others was a defining aspect of her character, and many will remember her for her generous spirit and kind heart.
Linda is survived by her beloved daughters, Carrie (Tim) Burnley, Angela (Bill) Sloan, and Darla Wiltse; her son Aaron (Leanna) Rust; as well as her cherished 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. They will forever hold dear the many memories shared with her, and her legacy will live on through them.
She joins her late parents, Claire L. and Fern E. Reighter, and her brother, Jack L. Reighter, who predeceased her. Their memory remains etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
As we remember Linda, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, friendship, and an enduring spirit. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
