Roy “Leon” Elrod, age 79 passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Portland, TN.
Leon was born on March 7, 1942 in Nashville, TN. He was the son of the late Jesse Gordon and Tiney Lee Grizzle Elrod.
Leon is survived by his loving wife Freida Goodwin Elrod; sons Robert Elrod (Amy); Shane Elrod (Jacy); grandchildren Cole Elrod (Katelynn); Steven Elrod; Jessica Hermann (Jay); Kaylee Elrod and Kyler Elrod; great-grandchildren Mila Elrod, Blake Elrod, and Jett Elrod.
Services to celebrate Leon’s life will be held at 1 pm on the afternoon of Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Jonathan Denton will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will be Cole Elrod, Steven Elrod, Kyler Elrod, Jackson King, David Andrews, and Marty Ray Gillihan. Visitation will be held from 11 am-1 pm on the morning of Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Hendersonville Funeral Home.
Leon loved life and lived it for his family. He loved fishing and playing golf with his sons. He had a special place in his heart for grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He loved to travel with his family and loved spending time with his wife Freida, going on rides together and sharing their love for each other. Leon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
