Larry Dean Harris was born on August 25, 1946, to Jesse Clearance Harris and Margret (Hedgeland) Harris. He was a mischievous snot of a child with a proclivity to making people smile; this solidified into his personality making him the man we all loved. With an infectious laugh of his own he never met a stranger.
He met who would become his wife of 56 years in October of 1965, he married Karen Sue Swallows on September 30, 1967. She was 17, he was 21.
He was drafted and served in Vietnam from 1966-1968. Where he was exposed to the infamous pesticide that ultimately caused his death.
Larry and Karen raised their children in California where they owned a carpet store for 20 years. They followed their daughter to Indiana and finally found their home in Tennessee. Larry and Karen drove a semi until his retirement.
They had many great adventures and made so many connections and memories traveling together in their fifth wheel camper during their retirement.
Larry passed away in his home, surrounded by his family, on December 26, 2023 after having battled cancer for many years.
Larry lived a good life, he surrounded himself with family and good friends. He never met a stranger and never made anyone feel unwanted.
He is survived by his wife, Karen, their son Jay and his wife Starr, and daughter Laura and husband David, and grandchildren Taylor and wife Desiree, Kayla Sue and husband Billy, Mackenzie and husband Chuck, and Elijah and partner Brianna.
