June-Goostree-Denning

June Goostree Denning, 86, of Cottontown, joined her creator on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

June was born to Marlin and Gladys Goostree on June 5, 1938, and was raised with three siblings on the family farm. She entered the world with endless energy and a drive to help others. A natural caretaker, she honed her skills first by caring for her little brothers, Wayne and Roger.

June was a practical sort, but she was swept off her feet by a handsome Marine who had the perfect finger curl and swagger. They married in the tiny family church where her strong faith was highlighted when she carried a Bible instead of flowers.

In her 40’s, she returned to school to earn her nursing degree. She was rightly proud of this accomplishment and she cared for countless people and their families. June loved church and singing hymns slightly off key. Cooking gave her another outlet to nurture family and she basked at a full dinner table. She believed in daily vitamins and prayer. June had gifted hands in healing, loving, and the arts. She enjoyed many creative activities including ceramics, hand stitching, gardening, but sewing and quilting were her passion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Denning, her daughter-in-law: Cynthia Denning, and her brother: Wayne Goostree.

June is survived by her three children: Mark Denning (Brenda), Danny Denning (Laura), Carol Denning Broadus (Mike), by her grandchildren: Amber Denning (Nate), Ryan Denning (Kristin), Josh Denning (Dani), Jordan Gregory (Dallas), Seth Broadus, and Fletcher Broadus, by her great grandchild: Baylor Gregory, by her brother: Roger Goostree, by her sister: Gale Wilkinson (Ross), by several nieces and nephews, by her quilting friends, and by the two that outranked everybody, her dogs, Koko and Molly.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 8th at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cross Plains with Pastor Russ Noss officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with Ryan Denning, Josh Denning, Seth Broadus, Fletcher Broadus, Dallas Gregory, and Mike Broadus serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Denning, Adam Goostree, and Lee Goostree. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home in Springfield, and on Thursday from 12 noon until service time at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cross Plains. https://www.robertsoncountyfuneralhome.com
