John “Jackie” Brockman Carter Jr. age 76, of Portland, passed away on August 12th, 2024 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN.
Mr. Carter was born in Portland, TN on October 1st, 1947 to the late John Brockman Carter Sr. & the late Alfa Jewel Lee-Carter.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Carter; siblings, Jean Carter, Jane Carter, & Van Carter.
Mr. Carter is survived by his children, Melissa “Missy” Carter (Tim) Taylor of Smith’s Grove, KY, Kimberly Carter ( Cris) Lord of Murfreesboro, Crystal Carter of Westmoreland, Mackenzie (Clay) Coker of Portland, & Alex (Andrea) Kelley of Lebanon; grandchildren, Missy Brockman Woods, Sam Woods, Megan Houston, Olyvia Lord, Eli Lord, Bryson Dowell, Chase (Kalayah) Dowell, & Tyler Dowell; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Carter of Portland, Joe Carter of Westmoreland, & Jerry Carter of Westmoreland.
Funeral service for Mr. Carter will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 16th, 2024 at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Timmy Pardue officiating.
Visitation for Mr. Carter will be on Thursday, August 15th, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday, August 16th, 2024 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home. https://www.wilkinsonwiseman.com
Interment will be at Portland Memorial Gardens along with Military Honors.
Alex Kelley, Bryson Dowell, Chase Dowell, Chris Lee, Randy Lee, & Eli Lord will serve as pallbearers.
Fred Montgomery, Johnny Day, John McCloud, Tim Taylor, Greyson Kelley, & Clay Coker will serve as honorary pallbearers.
