Mr. John Edward Pearson, age 91, of Portland, Tennessee died April 23rd, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family.

A native of Sumner County, Tennessee, Mr. Pearson was born September 19th, 1930, the son of Ezra and Effie (Gilliam) Pearson.

Mr. Pearson is survived by his daughters Deborah Gray (L. Carson, Jr.) of Gallatin, Tennessee, Vickie Lynn Pike (Gerald) of Hernando, Florida, Cynthia Pearson Denning of Portland, Tennessee; son John Edward, Jr. (Kathleen) of Nashville, Tennessee, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Williams.

Mr. Pearson is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Violet Eudean Pearson; siblings Pauline Perdue, Gladys Thompson, Leo Pearson, Ray Dean Pearson, and Earl Pearson.

Mr. Pearson lived a full life with his wife Eudean. Together they served their neighbors in the Oak Grove community in every way possible including the operation of two grocery stores for many years. He was a farmer as well as a small business owner with his brothers, operating Pearson Brothers Construction in Oak Grove and worked throughout Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky until his retirement.

Mr. Pearson was a loyal member of Fairfield United Methodist Church where he faithfully attended and served its congregation. “Pa”, as he was affectionately known, loved golf and was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team.

Funeral service for Mr. Pearson will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 28th, 2022 at Fairfield United Methodist Church, 909 Fairfield Road, Westmoreland, Tennessee 37186 with Eddie Pearson officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Pearson will be the day before on Wednesday, April 27th, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home, and on Thursday, April 28th, 2022 from 10:00 am until service time of 12:00 noon, at the church.

Interment will be in Fairfield Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Adam Gray, Jeremy Denning, and Shawn Gray, grand sons-in-law, Jason Willis, Allyson McMurray, Tom Peterson, Chuck Manning, Keith Norman, David Adams, and Jonah Hescock.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to Fairfield Cemetery c/o Leon Rippy, 570 Loving Chapel Rd., Franklin, KY 42134.
